TheSpack was born from the need to optimize the quality of digital images acquired with different cameras.
The goal has always been to make the development software and the RAW file communicate in the best possible way in order to make the results stable, reproducible and uniform under all the conditions of use and with all the systems used, allowing the photographer to obtain an unparalleled artistic figure.
With the spread of digital photography, a strong change has been highlighted that would have repercussions on future years. Having lost a stable and reproducible reference like film, the market has remained at the mercy of improvisation. The ThePack project stems from the idea that it is necessary to provide flexible solutions and consultancy that can adapt to the needs of companies, agencies and photographers.
We are of the opinion that the means we know now are limited by time and not by their potential. By developing innovative systems, evolution will soon lead to new technologies and even more surprising results. We therefore believe that our benchmarks cannot be determined by the potential of the average instrument on the market but must be adequate support for the most advanced instrument.
Pushing the capacity of each camera and each sensor to the limit leads us to put a strain on the ability to control the results and to be able to guarantee them in such large color spaces is our greatest satisfaction. Restoring its identity and dignity to light is the essence of photography, it is not by limiting its ultraviolet or infrared that good images are obtained, but simply by learning the shooting technique and rediscovering the filters that for so many years have allowed us to dissect the spectrum of our interest with knowledge and technique.
In the era of digital imaging, the primary tool has not changed, it has simply changed the less technical and qualitative approach that has made the creation of any image more laborious and artifical. For most technicians, the creation of color profiles itself is a mathematical calculation based on functions within pre-set standards and parameters. Ultimately, the denial of digital photography and the return to archaic color profiles for printers.
TheSpack color profiles are not limited to an Adobe RGB space, they are extensive and potentially capable of expressing all the colors of each sensor. They are created to provide greater matter and more definition and therefore a number of information such as to guarantee greater control and quality in all shooting situations.
Proprietary charts in 864 and 1600 patch versions designed specifically to allow maximum coverage of the working color spectrum
Created ad hoc for each individual model, thanks to a specific reference chart, it is created thanks to reference tools and software
Each profile is designed for a specific use and has different prerogatives from the others. The tonal control, the control of saturation and variance has been established according to the intended end use and not necessarily following a simple technical table.
LUT specifications created specifically for different situations of use and dedicated to specific color profiles
Color profiles are not certifiable unless used with dedicated systems. The only possible certification starts from the light point and extends to the color profile considering all the intermediate tools capable of reproducing the digital image. Once the image has been digitized, it can be converted into certified streams suitable for reproduction. TheSpack is based on the direct experience of users and grows with them, creating a functional reference based on field indications. Those who marry the project become part of a solution that grows over the years and certifies its quality according to their artistic needs.
Buying TheSpack is not only a recommended choice, but a necessary step to make the most of the potential of your photographic equipment. This is not a judgment on the quality of the photographer or developer, but a tool designed to obtain the highest possible quality from a digital file within a specific workflow.
TheSpack stems from the simple need to achieve the highest possible quality from a digital file. The product development choices were guided by important photographers who have contributed their experience and professionalism, making TheSpack a reference in the sector.
For the development of TheSpack packages, more than 200,000 images have been developed and the evolutions of the profiles have been tested with the collaboration of some of the most important international photographers.
To define the first development reference, more than 20,000 color profiles were created, experimenting with different software, charts and processes to develop the best evolutionary path.
Based on the logic of nuanced systems, all the canons of ordinary profiling have been analyzed and questioned, developing a variable approach depending on the photographer's needs.
TheSpack is not a mass product. It was not created to support every camera on the market.
Although over time, very high quality color profiles have been developed for numerous models and brands, we have consciously chosen to focus distribution on a single manufacturer, selecting a few key models and offering essential but highly performing curves and LUTs.
Why this choice?
Because TheSpack is, for all intents and purposes, a system Bespoke — or as they used to say, Taylor Made.
Experience has taught us that it is not possible to guarantee a high quality standard by extending support to the entire market. The constant evolution of sensors introduces new technical challenges every year.
For this reason, TheSpack is completely renewed every two years, and continuously optimized based on feedback from photographers, agencies and companies that use it in the field.
Every new color profile, every contrast curve, every LUT is the result of research, practical tests and attention to detail. It is a process that requires time, method and vision: creating reliable and consistent tools in every operating condition.
But there is one fundamental point:
The version distributed to the public does not represent the entirety of what TheSpack can offer.
Ready-to-use packages are only a small part of the system, a summary. TheSpack is designed for professionals, agencies and companies that need reliable, repeatable, optimized and, very often, exclusive solutions, protected by specific copyrights.
TheSpack is a high-end solution.
It is not a generalist product, nor a democratic one: it is an advanced technical tool, designed for those looking for concrete results, superior quality and absolute color consistency.
For those who want to get the most out of their equipment, we provide dedicated services, with customized routes for each type of user: from the standard version already approved in the field, to customized configurations for advanced professional workflows.
